Description of Services
Family History Research
Seeing and understanding your family in historical context is an unforgettable experience. They lived through events taught in history classes and seen on the big screen. I use records, social economics, historical events and the Genealogical Proof Standards to present the lives of ancestors. Each fact is sourced using Evidence Explained: Citing History Sources from Artifacts to Cyberspace 2nd Edition. Your final report can be provided via email or print. Additional options include GEDCOM, book and lineage charts.
Forensic Genealogy
Legal cases requiring genealogical research, analysis and reporting. These cases are more complex and often require a different reporting method such as an affidavit and may include court testimony. This is typically done for attorneys, government agencies or corporations.
Single Record Lookup
Just need one record? That’s okay. In addition to online and mail requests, I visit:
Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (vital records)
The State Historical Society of Missouri
National Archives in St. Louis
Local courthouses, historical societies, cemeteries, etc
“Brick Wall” Assistance
The infamous “brick wall.” We all hate them, but they don’t have to stop your research. Sometimes you just need a trained set of eyes to give new direction.
Research & Software Education
Of course you love doing your own research! But how do you make the software work for you? A little quality education can go a long way. I offer training on best practices, using online search engines and Family Tree Maker Software.
Organizing Research
You have all these records, now what! Organizing your records can be a daunting task. Fear not, it can be done.
Lineage Society Application Assistance
There are numerous Lineage Societies that can be joined with proven descent. The experience and camaraderie can be very rewarding. I provide research services and application assistance.
Digitization: Photos, Slides, Negatives & Documents
Images are scanned in high resolution; 600 DPI for photo’s, 4800 DPI for 35mm film and slides, and 300 DPI for documents (unless higher DIP is requested). Color correcting, scratch & dust removal and red-eye reduction are included.
Family Interviews
Interviewing family members is an excellent way to gain knowledge of family history. Their stories and priceless firsthand experiences can be woven together to tell your family’s story. Interviews can be recorded on HD video, 3D HD video or transcribed.
